Insulin Levels
The first and main reason is insulin. Now, whenever you eat any kind of food, your insulin levels go up, so we need to make sure that we can do what we can to avoid these things. So, we need to ensure that the food’s glycemic index is always on the lower side.
You can check it very easily on the internet, low glycemic index food options. Whenever you are eating something or trying to use something for your meal or snack, you can check its glycemic index.
Some examples of foods with a high glycemic index are white bread or starchy breads, cornflakes, noodles, potatoes, fully ripe or overripe bananas, fruit juices, or some types of fruits like bananas, grapes, and kiwi. All of these are high in glycemic index and you should avoid them if you are trying to lose weight.
Lower Glycemic Index Foods
The second thing is to treat yourself to foods with a low glycemic index, there are great options for that. Like, the first example is millet, pearl millet, barley, or barnyard millet. These are all very low on the glycemic index, so definitely try to change your bread and rice options to millet.
Fruits that have a low glycemic index include strawberries, apples, pears, oranges. Even oatmeal and beans are definitely lower on the glycemic index than any other type of food option. So, you need to choose better options when it comes to your snacking habits or even when it comes to your meals. You should always make sure that your food is fresh and homemade.
If not possible, try to eat raw or plain foods, but make sure they are not packaged in any way, you will start to see a huge change in your cell when you start consuming more of your organically grown vegetables and fruits instead of packaged foods.
Sodium Intake
The third major reason why you are not losing weight is the sodium intake, i.e. salt intake. We Indians or Pakistanis usually increase our salt intake with every meal, so definitely when it comes to water retention, bloating, and swelling in your system, one of the major reasons is too much sodium intake or too much salt.
Always try to reduce your salt intake as the sun sets, so always make sure that your dinner is the one that has the least amount of salt. Better options for your dinner options are soups without salt, you can have grilled vegetables or stir-fried vegetables without salt. The fourth real reason you are not losing weight is your water intake. My clients, I have seen when it comes to their weight loss, do not drink enough water, and when they start doing so, they see that yes, their water retention, their face is puffy, and their gut health improves day by day.
So always make sure that you keep your water intake very high. It should be at least 2 to 3 L every single day. This helps to cleanse your system very well and also ensures that your skin benefits are on point. Once you start drinking a good amount of water, you start to see a huge change in your skin benefits as well as your collagen-boosting properties increase. So make sure to drink a good amount of water every single day.
